group exhibition Without Mercy at Sismógrafo, curated by Óscar Faria, Porto, Portugal
Portraits of toy soldier figures that represent the military, and are part of the permanent collection of the Military Museum in Porto, Portugal.
These 5cm ceramic figures depict the active agents (actors) of the Carnation Revolution. The portraits were captured as if on a stage, showcasing the detailed faces of the ten soldiers, photographed within a simulated black box while remaining on their glass shelves.
Without Mercy was a collective exhibition that brought to life a series of conversations about the events of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution. This exhibition highlighted how memory and the past continue to resonate in the present day, addressing issues ranging from the right to housing to the need for questioning the fate of democracy and extending to debates about the concept of community.
