ABOUT

Catarina Oliveira is an independent film professional with over 8 years of experience in international sales, marketing, distribution, exhibition and festivals. After beginning her career in Portugal, working with film festivals and later as Head of Distribution at Leopardo Filmes, she moved to Berlin in 2020 to join the Next Wave Programme at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB).
She spent nearly four years at The Match Factory, where she worked in Legal and Business Affairs, and later as Marketing Manager, coordinating the world premieres and international festival launches of films by directors including Miguel Gomes, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Sofia Coppola, Wim Wenders, and Alice Rohrwacher. She has worked closely with major international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Locarno, Toronto and Tokyo.
She currently works internationally as a freelance film professional, collaborating on a project basis with filmmakers, producers, sales agencies, distributors and organisations across the global film industry.
